From the best time to book to the biggest budget points when traveling by motorhome, we give you all the relevant information you need to plan your trip in the USA from our rental station in Las Vegas. We have compiled the most common concerns of our customers so that you can access the most important information quickly and easily.

When is the best time to book a campervan for a trip to the USA?

As a general rule, it is advisable to book early in order to benefit from a wider choice of vehicles and possibly lower prices. Popular travel times such as the summer months, public holidays or major events can lead to higher demand, which can make it more difficult to find motorhomes available at short notice.

Who can rent a motorhome in the USA?

The minimum age for renting a motorhome is 21 years and you must be in possession of a valid national class 3/B driving license. When picking up the vehicle, the original license must be presented together with the passport.

We only offer vehicles with automatic transmission, which makes driving more comfortable for many travelers. With an automatic drive, there is no need to shift gears, which is particularly advantageous in traffic jams or when driving on hilly terrain.

How is a motorhome equipped at Graner?

The equipment of a motorhome varies depending on the vehicle model. All our motorhomes and trailers have extensive equipment to ensure your comfort during your trip.

These include a kitchen with stove, fridge and microwave, some with an oven, a bathroom with toilet and separate shower, full-size beds with high-quality mattresses, a dining area, air conditioning and heating for a pleasant indoor climate, an electric awning, electricity and USB ports, 2 living area batteries, an electricity generator for self-sufficient camping, water and waste water tanks and storage space for your personal belongings and, depending on the model, additional amenities such as a solar system for independent travel, an outdoor connection for a gas barbecue as well as a TV and satellite dish.

How much does a motorhome trip in the USA cost?

The cost of an RV trip in the US can vary depending on individual preferences and travel plans. However, here are some of the most common cost factors:

Rental fees for the motorhome

Here, too, we differ significantly from our competitors: no hidden additional costs, no long searches, no nasty surprises at the end. For example, you don’t have to buy a miles package with us, as you do with other rental companies. To be fair, after your return we will choose the cheapest option for you: either the individual miles or the mileage package (unlimited miles or kilometers).

Costs for gasoline

As the USA is a vast country, fuel costs can make up a large part of the budget. Our tip: Check gasbuddy.com during your trip for the current cost of gas in your area.

Campsite fees

Campgrounds in national and state parks are often less expensive than private campgrounds. Campgrounds in a park allow you to stay in the middle of nature, fully experience the beauty of the park, have easy access to the attractions and hiking trails and enjoy an authentic outdoor experience. However: campsites in national parks and state parks should usually be booked up to 6 months in advance, especially in the high season! Free overnight accommodation is also very common; being in the middle of nature without connections or infrastructure can also be a special experience, and of course we have the right tips for you!

Motorhome parking space

Catering

Self-catering with barbecues in the countryside or cooking in the motorhome kitchen can be cheaper than eating in restaurants and also offer a unique experience.

Incidental costs

Other budget items may include parking fees, entrance fees for attractions, leisure activities, laundry, internet access and possible road tolls.
